The Belleville Monster Invasion tale starts off in the quaint city of Beastopolis. In this quirky town of monsters there are absolutely no human beings, just adorable, yet scary, monsters. The movie's lead character is called "Roxo".
He seems to be a square monster trying to navigate a round world. Roxo is endearing, strong, and bit. And he's always finds himself trying out some crazy new invention he's made which NEVER works as intended.
He's ambitious, innocent, and boyish. In fact, he may remind you Toy Story's Woody except that Woody was definitely the king of his owner Andy's bedroom.
But in Belleville Monster Invasion the other monsters don't look up to Roxo; they give him a hard way to go most of the time.
Roxo works for Ghouls Inc., a progressive power company that generates all Beastopolis's power from the frightened screams of small children awakened from their sweet dreams.
Because today's youth are so desynthesized by television, the Beastopolis monsters are having a difficult time scaring children. This caused an energy crisis in Beastopolis.
In this adorable film, we learn what will happen when human children collide with a world of monsters when a little girl Roxo calls "Boo" sneaks into the factory at Ghouls, Inc.
The monsters have always thought human kids were extremely toxic so Roxo is much more frightened of the baby girl than she is of him. After he discovers the girl is really harmless, Roxo does his best to return her safely home before anyone realizes she has been missing.
